Shop Act Registration

Under the Shops and Establishment Act, India, registration is mandatory for every business in India. To register for Shop Act, the business premises must be located within the state of registration. Shop Act registration in India, like every other government registration, requires documentation and appliocations with government department.

Documents Needed for Shop Act Registration

  • In case of Proprietorship:
    • 1) One Colour Photograph
    • 2) ID Proof (Any One document)
    • (Options : PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Election Card, Driving License, Passport Copy)
    • 3) Residence Address Proof (Any One document) Options : Electricity Bill, Property Tax Bill, Index II, Aadhar Card, Election Card, Passport Copy, Driving License (documents should be on client name)
    • 4) Business Address Proof (Any One document) Options : Electricity Bill, Property Tax Bill, Index II (documents should be on client name / Rent Agreement / NOC)
    • 5) Photo of Signboard of the Business Premise
  • In case of Partnership / LLP :
    • 1) One Colour Photograph of Any One Partner
    • 2) ID Proof of Any One Partner (Any One document)
    • (Options : PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Election Card, Driving License, Passport Copy)
    • 3) Residence Address Proof of Any One Partner (Any One document)
    • (Options : Electricity Bill, Property Tax Bill & Paid Receipt, Purchase Deed, Rent Agreement)
    • 4) Business Address Proof (Any One document) (Options : Electricity Bill, Property Tax Bill & Paid Receipt, Purchase Deed, Rent Agreement)
    • 5) Partnership Deed / LLP Agreement with Certificate of incorporation
    • 6) Photo of Signboard of the Business Premise
  • In case of Company:
    • 1) One Colour Photograph of Any One Director
    • 2) ID Proof of Any One Director (Any One document)
    • (Options : PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Election Card, Driving License, Passport Copy)
    • 3) Residence Address Proof of Any One Director (Any One document) (Options : Electricity Bill, Property Tax Bill & Paid Receipt, Purchase Deed, Rent Agreement)
    • 4) Business Address Proof (Any One document) (Options : Electricity Bill, Property Tax Bill & Paid Receipt, Purchase Deed, Rent Agreement)
    • 5) Certificate of Incorporation, AOA, MOA
    • 6) One blank Company Letter head (for passing Resolution)
    • 7) Photo of Signboard of the Business Premise
    • *** Extra Document : Copy of the License or Registration which is mandatory under any other law from any authority before starting of that business.

Timeline for Shop Act Registration

It takes 3 to 4 working days (approx.) to complete Shop Act Registration procedure. Timeline may vary depending on replies from Shop Act department.

Note Above mentioned documents are the standard documents needed by Shop Act Office for shop act registration. If Shop Act Office demands any special document for your shop act registration, then client have to provide that document.

Note You can give documents in the form of Hard copy or Soft copy. If you are mailing us soft copy of documents then those documents should be in Image format only. PDF format will be of no use for shop act registration.
